U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) published its long awaited Importer Security Filing Rule, known as 10+2, in Monday’s Federal Register.
The interim rule will become effective on January 25, 2009, with enforcement to begin one year later. The interim rule includes an additional public comment period for certain data elements and economic effects of the rule.
The 10 additional data elements from importers and two from carriers that Customs will require are those that appeared in the proposed rule earlier this year.
