July 11, 2008

An additional eleven countries will soon implement the e-freight program for air cargo, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

The e-freight program was launched in 2004 as an alternative to paper documents for air cargo shipments.

Since last year, Canada, Sweden, the UK, Hong Kong, Singapore, and the Netherlands have been using the e-freight program, with Germany, Mauritius, and South Korea to rollout operations later this year.

Meanwhile, the latest countries to adopt e-freight include the U.S., Dubai, Luxembourg, France, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Iceland, Denmark and Norway. Five of these countries will begin using e-freight this year and the rest will launch e-freight in 2009.
